Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Upper

1.

Raise vehicle and support with stands at outer ends of lower control arms.

2.

Remove wheel and tire.

Remove cotter pin and retaining nut, then separate ball joint stud from knuckle using a suitable tool, Fig. 7.

4.

Support upper control arm in a raised position.

5.

Remove heads of rivets securing joint to arm, then drive out rivets to remove joint.
