Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Fuel Rail Assembly Model R620 Exploded View

REMOVAL:

1.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.

Relieve the fuel system pressure, see MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.

3.

Remove the intake manifold plenum, see INTAKE MANIFOLD PLENUM.

4.

Remove the fuel rail assembly, see FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY.

5.

Remove the pressure regulator bracket attaching screw assemblies and pressure regulator mounting bracket.

6.

Separate the left and right hand fuel rails from the pressure regulator base.

7.

Remove the base to rail connectors from the regulator base, or from the fuel rails.

8.

Remove the connector O-rings, from the base to rail connectors and discard.

9.

Remove the O-rings from the fuel rails and discard.

INSTALLATION:

1.

Lubricate the new fuel return O-rings with clean engine oil, and install them on the fuel rails.
