A/C - Lack of Cooling (Lines Reversed)

Number:

Section:

Date:

NOV., 1988

Subject:

A/C COMPRESSOR LINES REVERSED
DURING SERVICE REPAIRS

Model and Year:

1985-86 CELEBRITY EQUIPPED WITH 2.8L
AND DA-6 COMPRESSOR

TO:

ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

During Service repairs on a DA-6 compressor equipped car, it is possible to attach the suction and pressure lines 180 degrees off, resulting in the lines
being reversed.

Because of the compressor's various vehicle applications, it is possible to get a compressor out of stock or to assemble the compressor head to the front
cylinder 120 degrees either direction from standard. If this misorientation condition occurs, the A/C lines can be put on reversed. Refer to service
Manual Section 1D2 for proper orientation procedures.

The symptoms for the above line reversal condition will be:

^

No cooling

^

Low high pressure side

^

High low pressure side
