Check operation of park-lock system.

(a)

If key can be removed in "NEUTRAL" position, place shift lever in "PARK", raise snap connector lock button to up position and repeat steps
F & G.

(b)

If key cannot be removed in "PARK" position, raise snap connector lock button to up position and move cable connector nose rearward until
key can be removed from ignition. Then snap connector lock button down.

Reconnect wire harness and battery.

18.

Check neutral start switch for proper operation and readjust if necessary.

19.

Install console cover and shifter handle.

NOTICE:

1983 model year vehicles will require a new handle and retainer, see Parts Information.

20.

Recheck shift and park-lock linkage for proper operation.

21.

Install Campaign Identification Label.

Campaign Label, Claim & Owner Letter Information

CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL

Each vehicle corrected in accordance with the instructions outlined in this Product Campaign Bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label".
Each label provides a space to include the five (5) digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This information may be inserted
with a typewriter or ballpoint pen.
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to be located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in for
periodic servicing by the owner.

Apply "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean dry surface.

Campaign Administrative Allowance

** The "Parts Allowance" should be the sum total of the current GMSPO Dealer Net price plus 30% of all parts required for the repair.

Dealers will automatically receive the correct labor and material allowance based on the labor operation performed.
