Perform the following procedure to obtain correct washer thickness:
a. Remove reverse inhibitor fitting spring and washer from end of housing.
b. Place shifter shaft in ``Second'' gear.
c. Measure dimension ``A'', Fig. 4, which is distance between end of housing and the shoulder just behind end of shaft.
d. Apply a 9-13 pound load on opposite end of shaft, then measure dimension ``B'', Fig. 4, which is distance between end of housing and end of
shifter shaft major diameter.
e. Subtract dimension ``B'' from dimension ``A'' to obtain dimension ``C''.
