Shift Cable: Adjustments

Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment 

Adjustment Procedure 

1. Ensure that the range selector cable is not restricted.
2. Ensure that the column shift control is in the PARK position.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.

4. Important:  Do not pull on the boot portion of the cable.

Complete the following in order to disconnect the range selector cable (3) from the transmission range selector lever ball stud.

Insert a flat bladed tool between the range selector cable end (5) and the range selector lever (1).

Pry the range selector cable end (5) away from the range selector lever (1).

5. Ensure that the range selector lever is in the mechanical PARK position. Rotate the range selector lever fully clockwise.
