Tighten the rear axle fill plug to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).
4. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair) .
2. Clean the area around the rear axle fill plug.
3. Remove the rear axle fill plug.
4. Remove the rear axle cover. Refer to Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (See: Differential Cover/Service and Repair) .
5. Drain the lubricant into a suitable container.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the rear axle cover. Refer to Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (See: Differential Cover/Service and Repair) .
2. Fill the rear axle with axle lubricant. Use the proper fluid. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities (See: Maintenance/Service Intervals) and
Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers () .
