Removal Procedure
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Service
and Repair/Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac N Fill) (See: Engine, Cooling and
Exhaust/Cooling System/Service and Repair/Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac N Fill)).
2. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (2WD 2.9L and 3.7L) () Transmission Replacement (4WD 2.9L and 3.7L) ()
Transmission Replacement (4WD 5.3L) () Transmission Replacement (2WD 5.3L) ().
3. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LLV/LLR) (See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and
Repair/Generator Replacement)Generator Replacement (LH8) (See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and
Repair/Generator Replacement).
4. Reposition the heater inlet rear hose clamp (3) using the J 38185 - pliers and remove the heater inlet rear hose.
5. Reposition the heater inlet front hose clamp (6) using the J 38185 - pliers and remove the heater inlet front hose.
6. Remove the heater inlet pipe bracket bolts (4).
7. Remove the heater inlet pipe (5).
