Fuel Gauge: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
Test C: Fuel Tank Shows "E"
Disconnect connector C200 and turn the ignition switch to the "RUN" position.
1. If the display now reads F, the wiring is good. Install a new fuel gauge sender.
2. If the display still reads E, check the PNK (30) wire. If that wire is not shorted, replace the instrument cluster.

Test E: Fuel Gauge Is Inaccurate
Open connector C200 and connect the two red clip leads of tester J-33431 to terminals F (BLK/ORG) and G (PNK) of the harness half of that
connector. Set the resistance dials of the tester to 0 ohms and then 90 ohms. The fuel display should read E and then progressively light up all the bars
to F.
1. If the display responds correctly, install a new fuel gauge sender.
2. If the gauge does not respond correctly, check the PNK(30) wire between the fuel tank unit and the instrument cluster for high resistance and poor
connections. If this is good, then replace the instrument cluster.
