Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Loosen drive belt tensioner and remove drive belt.

3.

Raise and support vehicle.

4.

Remove wheel and tire assembly.

5.

Remove inner fender shield.

6.

Remove three crankshaft pulley bolts, Fig. 12, the pulley and hub bolt, then the pulley.

7.

Install Crankshaft Pulley Puller Tool No. J-24420-B to hub. Remove hub by turning the puller screw.

INSTALLATION

1.

Apply clean engine oil to contact area of front cover seal.

2.

Apply a suitable sealer to pulley hub keyway.

3.

Position pulley hub over key on crankshaft.

4.

Install Crankshaft Pulley Installer Tool, No. J-29113, to crankshaft. Ensure a minimum of 1/4 inch of threads are engaged. Pull pulley hub into
position, then remove the tool.

5.

Install crankshaft pulley, then the pulley and hub bolts. Refer to Fig. 12 for torque values.

6.

Install inner fender shield.

7.

Install wheel and tire assembly.

8.

Lower the vehicle.

9.

When installing serpentine drive belt, refer to ``Belt Tension Data'' in this section.

10.

Reconnect battery ground cable.
