Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

1.

Disarm airbag as outlined in MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION. Failure to do so may result in accidental
deployment of airbag, possibly causing personal injury.

2.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

3.

Remove four Torx screw from back of steering wheel, then connector position assurance (CPA) electrical connector from rear of inflator module.

4.

Remove horn slip ring connectors, then horn ring.

5.

Remove steering column locknut.

6.

Using puller J 1859-03 or equivalent, remove steering wheel.

7.

Reverse procedure to install noting the following:

a. Torque steering wheel locknut to 31 ft. lbs.
b. After all work has been completed, rearm airbag as outlined in MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
