Camshaft: Service and Repair
1. Remove engine from vehicle, refer to Engine, Replace for procedure. Under Engine/Service and Repair.
2. Remove valve lifters, refer to Lifters, Valve for procedure.
3. Remove engine front cover, refer to Front Cover, Replace procedure. Under Timing Components.
4. Remove timing chain and sprocket. Refer to Timing Chain & Sprocket, Replace for procedure. Under Timing Components.
5. Remove camshaft. Use caution not to damage bearings during camshaft removal.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Coat camshaft lobes with GM engine oil supplement No. 1052367, or equivalent, prior to installation.
