Shift Cable: Service and Repair

    Refer to Figs. 4 and 5, when replacing manual shift cables.

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Remove clamp and nut from each transaxle shift lever.

3.

Remove shift knob, console and shift boot.

4.

Remove shift cables from shifter control assembly by twisting between cable socket and control lever with suitable screwdriver.

5.

Remove spring clips retaining cables to control assembly.

6.

Remove right front sill plate, then pull back carpet to gain access to shift cables.

7.

Remove shift cable grommet cover attaching screws, then remove cable cover at floor pan and remove shift cables.

8.

Reverse procedure to install.
