Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTION
The electric engine cooling fan is controlled by the PCM based on inputs from the engine coolant sensor, intake air temperature sensor, the A/C
control switch, A/C refrigerant pressure sensor and the speed sensor.
OPERATION
The fan normally operates when engine coolant temperature is above 221°F, if A/C refrigerant pressure sensor is open or pressure is greater than 190
psi. The PCM will complete the ground path for the high speed cooling fan if engine temperature exceeds 235°F, if A/C refrigerant pressure sensor is
open or pressure is greater than 275 psi.
