Window Regulator: Service and Repair
WINDOW REGULATOR
Removal and Installation
1. Remove door armrest, trim panel and water deflector
2. Remove inner door panel access cover
3. Prop window in raised position with cloth body tape applied over door frame.
4. Disengage wire harness at motor
5. Remove inner panel cam.
6. Punch out window regulator rivet center pins, drill out rivets with 6mm (1/4in ) drill bit
7. Disengage regulator rollers from sash channel cam and remove regulator from door
8. To install regulator, reverse removal procedure. Attach regulator to inner panel with 1/4 20x 1/2 attaching screws. Tighten attaching screws to 8
Nm (72 in lbs)
Disassembly
CAUTION:
Do not attempt to remove the motor from the regulator until the following operations are performed. Arm is spring-loaded and should be
locked in position before the motor is removed.
1. place regulator assembly in vise
2. Using jumper leads to 12 volt D.C source operate motor until semi circular hole in sector gear centers over one of two weld nuts on mounting
plate.
3. Screw a 1/4- 20 x 1 bolt into weld nut so that end passes through hole in sector gear. It may be necessary to enlarge hole in gear slightly with file
or drill. Install nut on bolt to lock arm position.
Installation

Be sure lock bolt is removed if regulator has been disassembled
1. Install lubricated regulator assembly and guide rails in reverse order of removal.
2. Install window as outlined in this section. windows/window glass/service and repairSee: Window Glass/Service and Repair
3. Making sure connectors are securely installed on motor, test operation of window thoroughly
