Removal Procedure    

1. Loosen the cylinder line fittings (1) and (3) or on the cylinder end of the gear assembly (5).
2. Loosen the fittings (1) and (3) on the cylinder line assemblies or at the valve end of the gear assembly (5).
3. Remove the cylinder line assemblies (1) and (3) from the rack and pinion gear assembly (5).
4. Remove the O-ring seals (2) and (4) from the valve end of the lines.
5. Discard the O-ring seals (2) and (4).

Installation Procedure        

Important:  Use power steering fluid GM Part #12345866 (or equivalent meeting GM Specification #9985010) to flush and bleed the power steering
system including the following components:

-

Flush and bleed the hoses.

-

Flush and bleed the reservoir.

-

Flush and bleed the cooler lines.

1. Inspect the lines for the following damage and replace as needed:

-

Inspect for cracks.

-

Inspect for dents.

-

Inspect for damage to the threads.

2. Install new O-ring seals (2) and (4) onto the cylinder line valve ends.
3. Install the cylinder line assemblies (1) and (3) to the gear assembly (5).

Tighten the cylinder line valve end fittings to 16.9 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).

Tighten the cylinder line end fittings to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).

Notice:  Always use the correct fastener In the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that
application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the
fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases,
or other corrosion Inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque
and joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications.
Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.
