Corvette V8-5.7L VIN G (1997)
2. Install the cam bolts, washers, and nuts retaining control arm to crossmember.

Place the cam bolts at position marked during disassembly.

Due to a required wheel alignment, tighten the cam bolts but do not set to final torque specification at this time.
3. Support the lower control arm with a jack stand.
4. Install the lower ball joint stud into the steering knuckle.
5. Install the lower control arm ball joint stud nut.
It may be necessary to use an alien wrench to keep ball joint stud from spinning while tightening the ball stud nut.
Notice: Always use the correct fastener In the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application.
The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that
require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other
corrosion Inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint
clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these
instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and system.
Tighten
a. Tighten the lower control arm ball joint stud nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) to seat the ball joint stud.
b. Turn the ball joint joint nut an additional 3 1/2 flats.
c. Check the ball joint stud nut for a minimum final torque of 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the stabilizer shaft onto the lower control arm.

Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the front transverse spring. See: Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf )
8. Remove the spring compressor tool J 33432-A.
9. Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm.

Tighten the shock absorber lower mounting nuts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
10. Remove the jack stands.
11. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Perform a wheel alignment.

Tighten the lower control arm cam bolt nuts to 170 Nm (125 ft. lbs.).
