Wheels: Description and Operation
Wheels
Replace wheels if any of the following is present:
-
Replace if the wheel is bent.
-
Replace if the wheel is dented.
-
Replace if the wheel has excessive lateral runout.
-
Replace if the wheel has excessive radial runout.
-
Replace if the wheel is leaking air through the welds.
-
Replace if the wheel has elongated bolt holes.
-
Replace if the wheel nuts will not stay tight.
Wheels with runout greater than specified may cause objectionable vibrations.
Important: When replacing a wheel, transfer the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor to the new wheel and reinstall the wheel to its
original position. Seventeen inch (17 inch) cast aluminum alloy wheels are standard. Wheel construction is right front, right rear and left front, left
rear, determined by cooling fin design and size. Wheel sizes are as follows:
Replacement wheels must be equivalent to the original equipment wheels for the following:

Equivalent in load capacity.
-
Equivalent in diameter.
-
Equivalent in rim width.
-
Equivalent in offset.
-
Equivalent in mounting configuration.
Use of any other wheel size or wheel type may affect any or all of the following: May affect the wheel and hub bearing life.

May affect the brake cooling.
-
May affect the speedometer/odometer calibration.
-
May affect the vehicle ground clearance.
-
May affect the tire clearance to the body and chassis.
Identify steel wheels (spare) by a two or three-letter code stamped into the front side rim near the valve stem. Aluminum wheels have the code, part
number, and manufacturer's ID cast into the backside.
