Carburetor Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: A defective vacuum signal or outlet line will cause the valve to malfunction.
1. Check the condition of all lines--especially the vacuum signal line.
2. Disconnect pump to valve inlet hose at pump.
3. Start engine and allow to idle. Position palm of hand over hose;

Little or no suction with a gradual increase in vacuum is normal.

If strong suction is felt or air noise is heard, replace valve.
4. Open and close throttle rapidly, while positioning palm of hand over hose.

Air noise and strong suction should be evident. If not, replace valve.
