Camshaft: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure 

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly and the air inlet duct to the throttle body assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain

Management.

4. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Cooling System.
5. Remove the A/C condenser, if equipped. Refer to Condenser Replacement in Heating and Air Conditioning.
6. Remove the engine cooling fan assembly.
7. Remove the valve rocker arm covers.
8. Remove the intake manifold.
9. Remove the valve lifters and the push rods.

10. Remove the engine front cover.

11. Remove the crankshaft position reluctor ring.
12. Remove the camshaft timing chain and the camshaft sprocket.
