Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
Oil Filter Bypass Valve
1. Remove the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Remove the oil filter bypass valve.
4. Inspect the bypass valve spring and valve disc for proper operation, cracks, and damage.
Replace the oil filter bypass valve if necessary.
5. Clean the valve chamber in the engine block.
Oil Filter Adapter
1. Remove the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement.
2. Remove the oil cooler pipes.
3. Remove the bolts.
4. Remove the oil filter adapter.
5. Remove the gasket and the seal.
6. Clean all sealing surfaces.
