Heater Core Replacement

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill) Draining and Filling Cooling System (Vac N Fill).
2. Remove the right knee bolster bracket.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the battery tray.
5. If equipped, remove the transmission control module (TCM) from the inner fender to provide working clearance.
6. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) evaporator and blower module.
7. Remove the hose clamps using the J 38185.
8. Remove the inlet and outlet heater hoses from the heater core.

9. Remove the screws from the heater assembly.

10. CAREFULLY open the heater core access door in order to cut the heater core access door.
11. Cut the marked section of the heater core access door.

12. Remove the retainers from the heater core.
13. Remove the heater core.
