Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
2. Use a suitable prying tool to remove the crankshaft front oil seal.
3. Inspect engine front cover seal bore area for damage.
4. Inspect the crankshaft balancer seal area. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Clean and Inspect under Engine Unit Repair.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

J 35468 Cover Aligner/Seal Installer
1. Lubricate the exterior of the crankshaft front oil seal with clean engine oil.
IMPORTANT: The engine front cover is a plastic composition.
2. Use the J 35468 with a hammer in order to install the crankshaft front oil seal.
3. Inspect to ensure the crankshaft front oil seal is flush and square to the engine front cover.
4. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
