Condition
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:

These conditions may occur intermittently and diagnosis may find various DTCs set.
Cause
The cause of these conditions may be the main IP wire harness chaffing under the instrument panel.
Correction
There are two areas where wire chaffing may occur. Follow the procedures below to determine which repair is needed.
1.
Inspect the main IP wire harness under the left side of the instrument panel starting where the harness passes through the cowl near the brake pedal
assembly. The harness may come in contact with the IP center knee bolster bracket and chaffing may occur as the vehicle goes over bumps. If wire
chaffing is found, follow published wire repair procedures in SI and tie strap the harness out of the way so it does not contact the sharp edges of
the knee bolster bracket. Tape or a piece of conduit can be added to the bracket edge to provide further protection.
2.
Inspect the main IP wire harness under the left side of the instrument panel starting where the harness passes through the cowl near the brake pedal
assembly. The harness may come in contact with the left side IP brackets and chaffing may occur as the vehicle goes over bumps. If wire chaffing
is found, follow published wire repair procedures in SI and tie strap the harness out of the way so it does not contact the sharp edges of the IP
brackets. Tape or a piece of conduit can be added to the IP bracket edge to provide further protection.
