Power Steering Pump Seal: Service and Repair

Power Steering Pump Shaft Seal Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (4.3L)   (See: Service and Repair/Power Steering Pump

Replacement)Power Steering Pump Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L)   (See: Service and Repair/Power Steering Pump Replacement)Power Steering

Important: Protect the drive shaft with a shim stock.

2. Cut the seal with a chisel in order to remove it.

Installation Procedure

1. Lubricate the seal with power steering fluid.
2. Install the seal using a deep socket.
3. Install the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (4.3L)   (See: Service and Repair/Power Steering Pump Replacement
