Removal Procedure
1. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement (LLY, LBZ) (See: Engine Oil Dip Stick - Dip Stick

2. Remove the lower oil pan. Refer to Lower Oil Pan Replacement (See: Lower Oil Pan Replacement) .
3. Remove the engine flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Flex Plate/Service and Repair/Engine
Flexplate/Flywheel Replacement) .
4. Remove the front engine crossmember. Refer to Engine Front Crossmember Replacement (RWD) Engine Front Crossmember Replacement
(4WD) .
5. Remove the 2 flywheel housing to upper oil pan bolts.
6. Remove the upper oil pan bolts and any brackets. Mark the bolt location of the bracket.
7. Separate the upper oil pan from the engine block using the J 37228 .
8. Remove the upper oil pan.
