Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Notice:  Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

1. Remove the intake manifold tube.
2. Drain the coolant to a level below the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling

System Draining and Filling (Vac N Fill).

3. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector(s) (1) from the appropriate ECT sensor (s).

4. Remove the appropriate ECT sensor(s) (1).
