CAC SOLENOID, REPLACE
1.
Disconnect ground cable from each battery and remove air cleaner.
2.
Remove air intake and install suitable screens over cylinder head openings.
3.
Disconnect electrical connectors from injection pump fuel solenoid and CAC solenoid, and fuel return pipe from fitting on pump.
4.
Remove fast idle solenoid upper attaching bolt, loosen lower bolts and position fast idle solenoid aside.
5.
Clean injection pump cover, upper portion of pump and guide stud area, then place several rags in engine valley to catch spilled fuel.
6.
Remove injection pump cover bolts and the cover, Fig. 37. Extreme care must be taken not to allow foreign material to enter pump while
cover is removed. If any objects are dropped into pump, they must be removed before the engine is started or injection pump will be
damaged.
7.
Remove contact terminal nut, retaining nut and the CAC solenoid from cover.
8.
Reverse procedure to install, ensuring that solenoid plunger is properly centered to contact fitting check ball.
