Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair
Overhaul

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. The rear wheel cylinder pushrod from the cylinder bore.
2. The rear wheel bleeder valve from the cylinder.
3. The rear wheel piston cylinder boots from the cylinder.
4. The rear wheel cylinder pistons from the cylinder. 
5. The rear wheel cylinder seals from the cylinder.
6. The rear wheel cylinder spring from the cylinder.

Inspect
-

The rear wheel cylinder bore for scoring and corrosion.

The rear wheel cylinder spring for signs of discoloration due to heat. Replace if necessary.

Clean 
-

The inside of the rear wheel cylinder bore with crocus cloth. if the bore is still scored, replace the wheel cylinder. 

-

The rear wheel cylinder with clean wheel fluid.

Install or Connect

1. Lubricate the rear wheel cylinder bore and seals with clean wheel fluid.
2. The rear wheel cylinder spring to the cylinder.
3. The rear wheel cylinder seals to the cylinder.
4. The rear wheel cylinder pistons to the cylinder.
5. The rear wheel piston cylinder boots to the cylinder.
6. The rear wheel bleeder valve to the cylinder.

Tighten the rear wheel bleeder valve to 13 Nm (100 inch lbs.).

7. The rear wheel cylinder pushrod to the cylinder.
