Starter Motor Installation
CAUTION: Refer to "Service Precautions"
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. The negative battery cable.
2. The starter brackets and shields, if equipped.
3. The electrical wires from the starter solenoid.
4. The bolts and shims (when present) from starter.
5. The starter from the engine.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. The starter to the engine.
2. The bolts and shims (when present) to starter.
Tighten
^
The starter Bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
3. The electrical wires to the starter solenoid.
Tighten
^
The battery cable to the solenoid to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
^
The ignition wires to the solenoid to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
4. The starter brackets and shields.
Tighten
^
The starter shield nuts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
5. The negative battery cable.
