Vacuum Brake Booster: Description and Operation
The power brake booster is a tandem diaphragm vacuum suspended unit. During normal operation, with the brake pedal released, manifold vacuum is
applied to both sides of the diaphragms. Applying the brake pedal allows air at atmospheric pressure to enter one side of each diaphragm. This pressure
difference provides the power assist. The power brake booster is located on the left front cowl in the engine compartment and serves as the mounting
surface for the brake master cylinder. The power brake booster must be serviced as a complete unit and cannot be serviced internally.
