Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair
Installation
NOTE:

When new valve lifters or a new camshaft is installed, change the engine oil and the oil filter.

Engine Oil Supplement GM P/N 1051396 or the equivalent should be added to the crankcase oil.

Replace all valve lifters when a new camshaft is installed.
1. Install the valve lifters into the block. Lubricate the valve lifters (roller type) with High Viscosity Oil containing zinc GM P/N 1052367 or the
equivalent.
2. Install the valve lifter retainer and guides.
3. Install the intake manifold.
4. Install the pushrods.
5. Adjust the valves.
6. Install the value rocker arm cover and gasket.
