Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable assembly from the battery negative terminal.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the coolant reservoir.
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly and intake duct.
5. Remove the EGR inlet tube (left side).
6. Remove the oil level indicator tube bracket (right side).
7. Remove the spark plugs and wires.
8. Raise the vehicle.
9. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
10. Remove the exhaust pipe at the manifold.
11. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and heat shields.
12. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.
13. Clean the mating surfaces on the manifold and the head.
14. Clean the threads on the exhaust manifold bolts.
