Starter Motor And Shield
CAUTION: Refer to "Service Precautions".
PG-260 model starters are serviced by replacement only.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. The negative battery cable.
2. The starter bolts from the engine.
3. The starter motor heat shield.
4. The electrical connectors from the starter solenoid.
5. The starter motor from the vehicle.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. The starter motor to the vehicle.
2. The electrical connectors to the starter solenoid.
Tighten
^
The battery cable to the solenoid to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
^
The ignition wires to the solenoid to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
3. The starter motor heat shield.
Tighten
^
The starter heat shield bolt to 3 N.m (35 lb in).
^
The starter heat shield nuts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
4. The starter bolts to the engine.
Tighten
^
The starter Bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
5. The negative battery cable.
