Disconnect electrical harness connector from valve. (Figures 1 and 2)

Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum release valve.
4.
Remove vacuum release valve by turning it counter clockwise.
5.
Remove and retain retainer. Turn the retainer counterclockwise to unseat it.
6.
Install retainer removed in step 5. Turn the retainer clockwise to seat it.
7.
Install new vacuum release valve until it is seated in the retainer with the brake pedal in the depressed position.
8.
Audible "clicks" can be heard as the threaded portion of the valve is pushed through the retainer toward the brake pedal.
9.
Pull the brake pedal fully rearward against the pedal stop, until the audible "click" sounds can no longer be heard.
10.
Release the brake pedal and repeat Step 9 to assure that no audible "click" sounds remain.
11.
Connect vacuum hose.
12.
Connect electrical harness connector.
13.
Function check brake transmission shift interlock for proper operation:
A.
Solenoid must lock gearshift lever bowl assembly whenever steering column is in "PARK" and when trying to shift from "PARK" without
pressing brake pedal. (Solenoid is energized when ignition is on and solenoid is extended.)
B.
Solenoid must release gearshift lever bowl assembly when pressure is applied to brake pedal. (Solenoid is de-energized.)
14.
If system is inoperative, BTSI solenoid cable adjustment is necessary. Perform BTSI Solenoid Cable Adjustment. If operating properly, proceed to
step 15.
15.
Reinstall knee bolster (G-Van only).
16.
Install Campaign Identification Label.
BTSI Solenoid Cable Adjustment
1.
Be certain parking brake is engaged and vehicle wheels are blocked.
2.
Ignition lock cylinder in "OFF" position (NOT THE LOCK POSITION).
3.
Shift column out of "Park" position to "Neutral".
