Shifter With Rubber Band For Tension

Shift Positions

ADJUSTMENT

1. Recheck and verify vehicle will start only in "Park" and "Neutral."

2. Place the transmission in neutral and note the position of the "PRNDL" pointer. If the pointer is not between the uprights of the "N ",in neutral,

then adjust accordingly. For vehicles with a standard steering column go to step 3. For vehicles with a tilt wheel steering column go to step 4. Do
not use the transmission shift cable adjustment to correct "PRNDL" alignment.

3. Do not change the alignment by adjusting the transmission shift cable or moving the "PRNDL" housing. The standard steering column needle is

adjusted by loosening the pointer retainer screw and adjusting as required and tighten the screw. Go to step 5.

4. Do not change the alignment by adjusting the transmission shift cable or moving the "PRNDL" housing. The tilt steering column needle is adjusted

by depressing the spring clip pointer attachment and adjust accordingly.

5. Recheck pointer position, refer to step 2. After confirming the pointer is between the uprights of the "N", in "Neutral", shift the transmission to

"D" "Overdrive", and to "R", "Reverse", and note the positions. If the pointer does not cover a portion of either of the respective letters, the "
PRNDL" pointer must be adjusted accordingly.
