Brake Fluid: Vehicle Damage Warnings

BRAKE FLUID DAMAGE

Brake fluid will damage electrical connections and painted surfaces. Use shop cloths, suitable containers, and fender covers to prevent brake fluid
from contacting these areas. Always reseal and wipe off brake fluid containers to prevent spills. If fluid Is spilled, immediately flush area with
water.

FLUID MIXING

Power steering fluid, engine oil, brake fluid, or any mineral based fluids can not be mixed. If brake seals contact power steering fluid or steering
seals contact brake fluid, seal damage will result.

BRAKE FLUID STORAGE

Always store brake fluid in a closed, sealed container. Never use previously opened containers of stored brake fluid. Always use new brake fluid
from a sealed container. Reseal brake fluid containers immediately after use. Brake fluid left in an open or improperly sealed container will absorb
moisture. This can lower the brake fluid's boiling point and result in system contamination, corrosion, deterioration of rubber components and may
cause brake system failure.

FLUID USAGE

Care must be taken to use the correct fluids with vehicles equipped with a hydraulic power brake booster. The brake master cylinder and brake
system uses DOT 3 brake fluid, while the hydraulic power brake booster system uses power steering fluid for power assist. Improper fluid, water,
or any other contaminants in the brake fluid may cause the brake fluid to boil or rubber component deterioration in the hydraulic system.

CONTAMINATION OF BRAKE FLUID

Swollen brake master cylinder seals show that rubber deterioration has occurred. Rubber deterioration is also shown by swollen wheel cylinder
boots, caliper boots, or the brake master cylinder reservoir diaphragm. If rubber deterioration is found, replace all rubber components in the
system, including the hoses. Also check for fluid on the brake linings. If any is found, replace the linings.

If The Brake Fluid Is Contaminated - and the brake master cylinder piston seals are satisfactory, verify the system for any leaks or excessive
heat conditions. If no leaks or excessive heat conditions are found, flush the system.
