Automatic Transmission Dipstick - Dipstick Tube: Service and Repair
4L60-E Automatic Transmission
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Air cleaner.
2. Oil level indicator.
3. Nut securing the oil level indicator tube bracket to the engine bracket.
4. Top of the oil level indicator tube from the bottom of the oil level indicator tube.

Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Bottom of the oil level indicator tube and the seal from the transmission.

Pull the oil level indicator tube up from the transmission.
6. Oil level indicator tube seal from the oil level indicator tube.
Clean
-
Metal parts using solvent. Do not allow the solvent to enter the transmission.

Air dry.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New seal into the transmission case.
2. Bottom of the oil level indicator tube into the seal.
-
Lower the vehicle.
3. Top of the oil level indicator tube into the bottom of the oil level indicator tube.
4. Nut securing the oil level indicator tube to the engine bracket.
-
Tighten oil level indicator tube nut to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Air cleaner.
7. Oil level indicator.
