Center Support: Service and Repair
Center Bearing Replacement
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist and support it with safety stands.
2. The propeller shaft.
3. The front propeller shaft from the rear propeller shaft by pulling rearward on the rear shaft to disengage the slip yoke.
4. The center bearing.

Stand the propeller shah on end in the press and press off, the center bearing slinger retaining ring from the propeller shaft.

Stand the propeller shaft on end in the press with the center bearing supported by the press bars.

Press the propeller shaft down and off the center bearing.
ASSEMBLE
1. The center bearing onto the propeller shaft.

Press the center bearing onto the shaft using a press.

Press the center bearing slinger retaining ring onto the propeller shaft.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. The propeller shaft.
Important:
-
The center bearing must be aligned to prevent damage to the propeller shaft assembly.

When bolting the center bearing in place on the frame, be sure to keep it perpendicular (90° ±1) to the propeller shaft.
2. The rear propeller shaft to the front shaft.
3. Remove the safety stands and lower vehicle.
