Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

On some 6-250 engines, the intake manifold is an integral part of the cylinder head. The procedure outlined below applies to engines with
non-integrated cylinder heads. The exhaust manifold is removed together with the intake manifold. Refer to ``Exhaust Manifold, Replace'' procedure for
removal of exhaust manifold on integrated cylinder heads.
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner assembly.
2.
Disconnect throttle controls at bellcrank, then remove throttle control spring.
3.
Disconnect fuel and vacuum lines at carburetor and crankcase ventilation hose at valve cover.
4.
Disconnect vapor hose at canister.
5.
Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold flange, then remove manifold attaching bolts and clamps and the manifold assembly.
6.
Remove bolts and nut at center of assembly, then separate manifolds.
7.
Reverse procedure to install using new gasket. Torque bolts to specification, working from center of cylinder head outward.
