Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
With TBI Model 295

Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement (TBI 295)

CAUTION:  To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak, always replace diaphragm every time the cover is removed.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Negative battery terminal.
2. Loosen filler cap(s) to relieve fuel tank pressure.
3. Air cleaner extension (spacer) and gasket.
4. Four regulator cover attaching screw assemblies while keeping pressure regulator compressed.
5. Pressure regulator cover assembly.
6. Pressure regulator spring.
7. Pressure regulator spring seat.
8. Pressure regulator diaphragm assembly.

INSPECT

Pressure regulator valve seat in fuel meter body for pitting or nicks. If seat is damaged, replace the fuel meter body.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. New pressure regulator diaphragm assembly.

Be sure it is seated in groove in fuel meter body.

2. Regulator spring seat and spring into cover assembly.
3. Cover assembly over diaphragm, lining up mounting holes.
4. Four regulator cover attaching screw assemblies coated with appropriate thread-locking compound while keeping pressure regulator compressed.

Tighten
Cover screws to 2.4 Nm (21 lb. in.).

5. Negative battery terminal.

Inspect
With engine "OFF," and ignition "ON" check for fuel leaks.

6. Gasket extension (spacer), and air cleaner assembly.
