Repairing Scratched Wood Steering Wheels
REPAIRING SCRATCHED WOOD STEERING WHEELS
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the steering wheel.
2. Wash the wood section of the wheel with wax and grease remover.
3. Mask off the non-wood area of the steering wheel.
4. Sand with 400 grit sand paper first. Finish sanding with 600 grit.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT sand through the clear.
5. Wash the wood section of the wheel again with wax and grease remover.
6. Clear coat the steering wheel. Refer to the 2003 GM Approved Refinish Materials Booklet, GM 4901 M-D-2003 (English) or M-D-F2003
(French).
7. Install the steering wheel.
