1. Nut from the outer tie rod ball stud. Do not reuse the nut.
2. Outer tie rod ball stud from the steering knuckle using J 6627-A.
3. Nut from the inner tie rod ball stud Do not reuse the nut.
4. Inner tie rod ball stud from the relay rod using J 6627-

a.

5. We rod ends from the adjuster tube.

a. Loosen the clamp nuts.
b. Spread the clamps.
c. Unscrew the tie rods.

6. Inspect for the following:

-

Tie rod ends for damage.

-

Tie rod end seals for excessive wear.

-

Ball stud threads for damage.

-

Adjuster tubes for bending or damaged threads.

7. Clean the following:

-

The tapered surfaces.

-

Threads on the ball stud and in the ball stud nut.

INSTALLATION   

CAUTION:  Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that
application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners
that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other
corrosion Inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping
force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions
can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.

NOTE:  If the rod end was removed, lubricate the tie rod threads with chassis lubricant.

Install or connect the following:
1. Tie rod end to the adjuster tube. The number of threads on both the inner and outer rod ends must be equal within three-threads.
2. Inner tie rod ball studs to the relay rod. The seal must be on the stud. Tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) to seat the tapers, using J 29193.
3. New prevailing torque nut to the inner tie rod ball stud. Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
4. Outer tie rod ball studs to the steering knuckle. Tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) to seat the tapers, using J 29193.
5. New prevailing torque nut to the outer rod ball studs. Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
5. Adjust the toe-in.
