Heater Core: Service and Repair
With A/C
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Service and Repair
3. Recover the refrigerant.
4. Disconnect the heater hoses. See: Heater Hose/Service and Repair
5. Remove the accumulator.
6. Remove the instrument panel carrier. See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Instrument Cluster / Carrier/Service and Repair
7. Remove the HVAC module drain hose.
8. Disconnect the electrical harnesses and the ground connections as needed.
9. Remove the HVAC module mounting nuts and the screws.
10. Remove the HVAC module assembly. Set the HVAC module assembly on a bench.
11. Remove the heater core cover screws.
12. Remove the heater core cover.
