Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Replacement, Engine Overhaul
Right Side
REMOVAL
1. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and studs.
2. Remove the spark plug heat shields.
3. Remove the exhaust manifold.
4. Remove and discard the gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket.
2. Install the exhaust manifold.
3. Install the spark plug heat shields.
4. Install the exhaust manifold bolts.
5. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts.
a. Tighten the bolts on the first pass to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
b. Tighten the bolts on the final pass to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
Left Side
REMOVAL
1. Remove the EGR valve inlet pipe bolt and the clamp from the intake manifolds
2. Remove the EGR valve inlet pipe from the exhaust and intake manifolds.
3. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and studs.
