Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair

Hub, Knuckle, And Control Arm Components

REMOVE

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove brake caliper. Support caliper with piece of wire to prevent damage to brake line.
4. Pull rotor off of hub.
5. Drive axle nut.
6. Washer.
7. Remove hub and bearing assembly using a puller.
8. Tie rod end from the knuckle.    
9. Splash shield bolts and splash shield.

CAUTION: Support the lower control arm with a jack stand.

10. Remove upper ball joint nut and upper ball joint.    
11. Remove lower ball joint nut and upper ball joint.    
12. Remove spindle.

INSTALL

1. Reverse procedure to install.
