K 2500 Truck 4WD V8-454 7.4L (1988)
This notice is sent to inform you that Chevrolet Motor Division is conducting a recall campaign that includes your vehicle.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
General Motors has determined that certain 1988-89 K30 series trucks with 7.4L V8 engine and engine oil cooler option may have oil cooler line/filter
adapters that were machined incorrectly. These adapters allow oil to by-pass the engine oil cooler and/or the engine oil filter.
WHAT WE WILL DO
To prevent the possibility of this condition occurring on your vehicle, it will be necessary to replace the engine oil cooler line/filter adapter. In addition,
new oil and oil filter will be installed. This service will be performed for you at no charge.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Please contact your Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer.
The labor time necessary to perform this service is approximately 45 minutes. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will
be needed to schedule and process your vehicle.
The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the
shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid reply card and returning it to us.
