Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
Front Parking Brake Cable
FRONT CABLES
Remove or Disconnect
NOTE: Make sure parking brake is released.
1. Raise vehicle and support with safety stands.
2. Loosen adjusting nut at equalizer (5).
3. Connector (8).
4. Cable (5) from parking brake lever (1).

Bend in the retaining fingers (6) at the frame bracket.
5. Front cable (5).
Install or Connect
CAUTION: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that
application. General Motors will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. General Motors will also call out the fasteners that
require thread lockers or thread sealant. Unless otherwise specified, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on
threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may damage
the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid
damage to parts and systems.
1. Front cable (5).
2. Cable (5) to parking brake lever (1).

Make sure all retaining fingers (6) are through the hole.
3. Connector (8).
