ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS When reassembling a THM 700-R4 transmission, do not reuse the input carrier to output shaft snap ring (see
Figure 1). This snap ring can be overexpanded during removal and if reused in this condition, it may become dislodged during vehicle operation.
If the snap ring should become dislodged, the output shaft will move rearward and damage both the governor driven gear and the speedometer
drive gear. This will cause a condition of no upshifts.
NOTICE:
When installing a new snap ring (P/N 8642230) be certain not to overexpand it.
