Fan Clutch: Service and Repair
FAN CLUTCH
REMOVAL PROCEDURE

J 41240 Fan Clutch Wrench
CAUTION: Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan
could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage.
1. Remove the upper fan shroud.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt.
3. Remove the fan hub nut from the water pump in a counterclockwise rotation using the J 41240 fan clutch wrench.
4. Remove the fan blade from the clutch.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan
could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the fan blade to the clutch.
Tighten the bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the fan and clutch assembly using the J 4124a
Tighten the fan clutch nut to 56 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the accessory drive belt.
4. Install the upper fan shroud.
